New Members Elected to the IAEA Board of Governors

Eleven countries have been elected to serve on the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors for the 2026-2028 period.

Eleven newly elected countries will join the 35-member IAEA Board of Governors for the 2026-2028 period. The election took place on Thursday, 17 September at the seventh plenary session of the 70th IAEA General Conference.

The new Board members include Angola, Brazil, Greece, Honduras, Kuwait, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, Slovakia and Sweden.

For the 2026-2027 period, the new composition of the IAEA Board of Governors will be as follows: Angola, Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Niger, Nigeria, Peru, the Philippines, Portugal, Romania, the Russian Federation, Saudi Arabia, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Togo, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the United States of America.

The Board of Governors is one of the two policy-making bodies of the IAEA, along with the annual General Conference of IAEA Member States. The Board will meet on Monday, 21 September to elect its officers.

The Union Government has released ₹260.20 crores to Rural Local Bodies in Kerala as XV Finance Commission grants for the Financial Year 2025- 26. ISRO developing semi-cryogenic engine working on LOX Kerosene propellant

ISRO is developing a 2000 kN thrust semi-cryogenic engine working on an LOX Kerosene propellant combination for enhancing the payload capability of LVM3 and for future launch vehicles. Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) is the lead centre for the development of semi-cryogenic propulsion systems with the support of other launch vehicle centres of ISRO. The assembly and testing of the propulsion modules were done at the ISRO propulsion complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri. As part of the engine development, a pre-burner ignition test article, which is a full complement of the engine power head system excluding the turbopumps is realized. The first ignition trial was conducted successfully on May 2, 2024, at semi cryo integrated engine test facility (SIET) at IPRC, Mahendragiri, which was dedicated to the nation recently by the honorable Prime Minister of India.
