A notification for introducing the "Pravasi Bharatiya Bima Yojana, 2003" has been issued on 13th November, 2003. This scheme will come into force on the 25th day of December, 2003.

Details

A mandatory insurance scheme by Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) for safeguarding the interests of Indian emigrant workers falling under Emigration Check Required (ECR) category going for overseas employment to ECR countries. PBBY also includes global insurance coverage irrespective of employer and location, has facility for online renewal and a simplified process for certification of accidental death / permanent disability. The scheme is now more beneficial for emigrant workers and is aimed at ensuring an expeditious settlement of claims.

Benefits

  1. The Insured person shall be covered for a sum of ₹10 Lakh in the event of accidental death or permanent disability leading to loss of employment while in employment abroad, irrespective of change of employer/location of insured person.
  2. Certification of accidental death or permanent disability by Indian Missions and Posts abroad shall be accepted by the insurance companies.
  3. Medical insurance cover including injuries / sickness / ailment / diseases available up to ₹1,00,000/- (up to ₹50,000 per hospitalization).
  4. Repatriation cover for medically unfit/premature termination of employment: Actual one-way economy class air fare to the nearest international airport in India.
  5. Family Hospitalization in India is available up to ₹50,000/- for Spouse and first two children up to 21 years of age.
  6. Maternity expenses benefit to women emigrants available up to ₹50,000/-.
  7. Reimbursement of return economy class air fare to the nearest international airport to one attendant in case of emigrant’s accidental death or permanent disability.
  8. Legal expenses on litigation related to emigrant’s overseas employment admissible up to ₹45,000/-.
  9. Provision for online renewal of PBBY policy.

Eligibility

The applicant must be an Overseas Indian (cleared emigration)

The age of the applicant must be between 18 - 65 Years (Maximum entry age is subject to emigration clearance).

ISRO developing semi-cryogenic engine working on LOX Kerosene propellant

ISRO is developing a 2000 kN thrust semi-cryogenic engine working on an LOX Kerosene propellant combination for enhancing the payload capability of LVM3 and for future launch vehicles. Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) is the lead centre for the development of semi-cryogenic propulsion systems with the support of other launch vehicle centres of ISRO. The assembly and testing of the propulsion modules were done at the ISRO propulsion complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri. As part of the engine development, a pre-burner ignition test article, which is a full complement of the engine power head system excluding the turbopumps is realized. The first ignition trial was conducted successfully on May 2, 2024, at semi cryo integrated engine test facility (SIET) at IPRC, Mahendragiri, which was dedicated to the nation recently by the honorable Prime Minister of India.
