NASA’s NEO Surveyor Successfully Completes Critical Design Review

On Feb. 6, NASA’s NEO Surveyor (Near-Earth Object Surveyor) passed its critical design review.

It was expected to launch no earlier than late 2027.

Mission's aim is to discover and characterize most of the potentially hazardous asteroids and comets that come within 30 million miles of Earth’s orbit. These are collectively known as near-earth objects, or NEOs.

Mission will carry outfive-year baseline survey to find at least two-thirds of the near-Earth objects larger than 140 meters (460 feet).
