SCHEMES FOR AGING PEOPLE AND DIVYANGJANS

Department of Social Justice and Empowerment is implementing   Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana   for welfare of Senior Citizens with the following components: Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens  under which Grant in aid is provided to Non-Governmental/ Voluntary Organizations for running and maintenance of senior citizen homes (old age homes), continuous care homes, etc. Facilities like shelter, nutrition, medicare and entertainments are provided free of cost to indigent senior citizens. State Action Plan for Senior Citizens  under which Grant in aid is provided to States/ UTs for activities like awareness generation, sensitization, cataract surgeries and State specific activities. Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana  under which senior citizens, belonging to BPL category or the senior citizen with the monthly income not more than Rs. 15000/- and suffering from age related disabilities/ infirmities are provided with such physical aids and assisted living devices which can restore near normalcy i

HIGHLIGHTS OF NEW CRIMINAL LAWS

The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS), the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita), 2023 (BNSS), and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023 (BSA) were notified in the Gazette of India on 25 th   December, 2023. The provisions of BNS, except the provision of sub-section (2) of section 106 and entry relating to section 106(2) of BNS in the first schedule of BNSS, and BSA have come into force from 1st of July, 2024. Highlights of the new Criminal Laws are placed at Annexure-I. Section 478 to 496 of BNSS contains details of the provisions relating to bail and bond. In order to reduce overcrowding of jails, following provisions have been made in the BNS, 2023 and BNSS, 2023:   In section 290 of BNSS, plea bargaining has been made time bound and application can be made within 30 days from date of framing of charge. 46th World Heritage Committee Session concluded in New Delhi

  The 46 th   session of World Heritage Committee was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, alongside UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay and various other international dignitaries. In his keynote address, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi emphasized India’s deep connection to its cultural heritage and its pivotal role in global conservation efforts. He underscored the country’s commitment to protecting and promoting heritage while balancing sustainable development. The Prime Minister’s speech highlighted the theme of “ Vikas Bhi Virasat Bhi ” (Development and Heritage), advocating for a balanced approach to heritage management that respects the past while supporting future growth. NPPA monitors the prices of scheduled as well as non-scheduled medicines under DPCO, 2013

Action is taken against companies found selling formulations at prices higher than the permissible price Posted On: 30 JUL 2024 2:21PM by PIB Delhi As per the provisions of Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013 (DPCO, 2013), formulations listed in Schedule-I of the DPCO are defined as scheduled formulation under section 2(1)(zb) of DPCO, 2013. Formulations not included in Schedule –I are defined under Para 2(1)(v) of DPCO, 2013 as non-scheduled formulation. Thus, both schedule and non-schedule drugs are covered under DPCO, 2013.  As per the extant provisions of DPCO, 2013, the ceiling prices of scheduled medicines are revised annually on the basis of Wholesale Price Index (WPI) (all commodities) for preceding calendar year by National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), on or before 1st April of every year and is notified by the Government on the 1st day of April every year.
